A day to make something beautiful—and then do absolutely nothing.
There is something special about this moment between seasons. The garden is still generous, but the light is beginning to change. Flowers that have been growing quietly all summer are finally coming into their own.
Gather & Ground is an afternoon designed around that feeling. We’ll begin with Laurel from Flaurel School, who will guide you through a hands-on two-hour seasonal floral arranging experience using beautiful, locally grown Ontario flowers and blooms from her own garden. These are the flowers of the moment—the dahlias, zinnias, cosmos, rudbeckia, sedum, hydrangeas and other seasonal treasures that are just beginning to shine as we move toward autumn.
No floral arranging experience is needed. Laurel will introduce you to the fundamentals of floral design, including proportion, balance, colour harmony, focal points and creating movement within an arrangement. You’ll learn how to work with seasonal stems, condition your flowers, create a secure vase structure and build an arrangement that feels uniquely yours.
And then, we’ll shift gears.
After our floral workshop, we’ll take some time to enjoy light drinks and refreshments before transitioning into a 90-minute restorative yoga experience with Atheana. We’ll begin with a grounding meditation before settling into a deeply restful practice using supportive poses, props, breathwork and extended stillness. This portion of the afternoon is an invitation to stop doing, soften the body and allow yourself to simply receive.
You’ll leave with a beautiful seasonal arrangement to take home, along with the feeling of having given yourself four uninterrupted hours to create, connect and rest.
